Jessica Zubek was 9 when she was diagnosed with autoimmune hepatitis, a condition where the immune system attacks the liver. Liver disease specialist Helen Te, MD, offered her the option of receiving a donation from a living organ donor.
By donating a part of her liver, one woman gave someone else the gift of better health. Both transplant participants are still thriving after two decades.
