About

The mission of the National Liver Registry (NLR) is to save and improve the lives of people facing liver failure by increasing the quality, speed, and number of living donor transplants in the world while protecting all living liver donors.

Three main initiatives help the NLR achieve this goal:

  • The Microsite Program: Offers free, personalized websites to help patients find potential donors, as well as free coaching.
  • Donor Shield: Provides financial assistance to living liver donors, including reimbursement for lost wages and donation-related expenses.
  • DASH (Donor Automated Screening & History): Donor screening intake platform that streamlines the registration process for donors.

The NLR launched its first liver microsite in 2022. It now has 166 active liver microsites, which have received 2,314 microsite registrations and led to 22 successful liver transplants.
